We had the wonderful opportunity to interview Antoinette, Sales and Operations Manager at Fountain Blu. I have worked with Antoinette during my career in the Wedding Industry and I am truly impressed with her integrity, attention to detail and her amazing personality. About the Venue
It used to be the the old Queen Elizabeth Ballroom. It was established in probably around 1950’s. We took over the space and renovated it. There is over 5000 sq. ft. of space. It is very versatile and works well with corporate events, weddings and social events.
I am Sales and Operations Manager for Fountain Blu.
Our venue is very particular because we offer with the rental, the tables, the linens, the chiavari chairs, the cutlery, the glassware and we make it very simple and easy for the client. Everything is included in the package. We have a team that is extraordinary. We go beyond the call-of-duty, and that is our philosophy.
We always do a food tasting. If they don’t like the food, they’ll pick something else until we get it right. Pretty much, we tell them to show up with their floor plan and we will take care of the rest and all of a sudden they breath easily. Another thing they tell us is again the customer service. Our accessibility and availability to them.
I have incidents when our clients have gone to other venue and came back to this venue because of our customer service. Our clients love the fact that we are available pretty much 24/7. Because we are so concerned about our client’s event, we would stay till 10pm and sometimes 11pm at night to make sure it’s setup properly for them and it could be 2 days before their event if they wish.
We did a charity event for an organization called “Red Door” and Lindt Chocolate was the sponsor. They asked us if we could do an event for mothers that are being abused. This organization takes them in with the kids. So these kids never had something so glamorous. We had a Santa to give the kids gifts and we provided a 3-course meal. The mothers were so tearful at the end of the night because we give it back to them.
Fountain Blu is different from other venues because we allow our clients to customize their wedding. From bar packages, to food, to decor, to accessibility. We are there with our client and we work from start to finish with them.
Marketing / Sales Strategy:
We do a lot of bridal shows, a lot of corporate events, and we work with Tourism Toronto. But the main thing is referrals to us. We also do customized open houses. We would do a luncheon for them for no cost to them. They show up with their staff, they have a bite to eat, they mingle with us and they are exposed to them. This is really important to us. We have great caterers and great bar packages that makes this experience work. The questions is, “how do you get your client to see your vision?” and once they see that, that is the connection that you have to have.
